Well it's not that simple
Well, first of all backyard brawling can be profitable due to the bets etc. As well as You Tube exposure and MMA opportuinities. There is also an element of respect for some of the fighters and their ability. On the flip side this type of combat lacks honor because in my view martial arts is for self defense only, any sparring or combat is to aid one in honing his craft. Being a prize fighter, also changes the motive of martial arts from one of growth to pursuit of money. However, prize fighting is a structured environment with trainers, doctors, and referees, and police. so this decreases the possibility of accidents etc. The negative images are not what I would want my children or students to be involved in. However, some may get involved because it is and opportunity to provide food and other necessities for themselves. Either, way it is my wish that everyone would pursue mental, and spiritual, growth and physical well being when engaging in the arts. Self Defense= Self Awareness= Self Mastery Wisdom and strength Sifu www.shuharilegacy.com
